Sound of the midwest

Most bands who have that definitive warm, twangy, midwest sound are often labelled as alternative country. Whatever you want to call it, the sound is so distinctive and vivid, it's hard to imagine how it came to be. Words and lyrics cannot evoke the images that the music creates. I hope one day this place will have its own sound.
